Over at a friends house tonight and as we were rummaging through the garage and kitchen I ran across many items that could use our services.....
There were the Henckels in there wooden block, Extra knives, about a dozen of them in a kitchen drawer. About 4 pairs of household scissors and some fabric shears stuffed in another drawer.
Moving out to the garage there were shovels, hoe's, spades, hedge clippers, pruners, loppers, an edger and a mower.
All the items are somewhere in their service life right now. Most of the one's I handled were at the end of their present service life.
With a little time, care and money these tools will be renewed and have a long service life ahead them.
In other words your house is full of items that you use that are not properly sharpened and will not do the job you need/expect them to do.

Chicago Cutlery.....One of my favorites
One of my clients gave me a beautiful Chicago Cutlery cleaver to clean up and sharpen. In the day this company made some awesome pieces.
The Asian Factor
I received a voicemail the other day and I was horrified to find out that I didn't act fast enough to avoid a tragedy. The message was left late on Friday and I took the weekend off so I returned the call Monday morning. A nice lady answered the phone and I told her I was returning her call form Friday. She thanked me for calling but couldn't wait for me to get back to her so she took her Asian single beveled knives to the local sporting goods store to have them sharpened. I sat shocked!!!! Asian Single Beveled knives taken to a sporting goods store to be sharpened..........I proceeded to inform this potential client that her knives may be ruined for good, her knives needed to be sharpened and honed on waterstones not on some high speed wheel in an outdoor world store. I offered to look at her knives for free to see if they were indeed sharpened correctly or were the bevels rounded off and in need of repair. To no avail the potential client declined my offer of free inspection and told me when they were dull again she would call me. Oh well I lost a few nights sleep knowing these Asian crafted knives were somewhere in the Orlando area possibly ruined or in need of desperate repair but alas more knives showed up that needed special attention and my energies were directed towards them.
